Changes To Transportation, CATA Services To Begin November 23

Penn State Transportation Services and CATA will implement service changes on Monday, November 23 as the fall semester moves online, the university announced Thursday.

Parking Regulations

Core parking permits (Brown, Green, Orange, Red, Silver, Yellow) held by faculty and staff will be valid in additional parking areas from Monday, November 23, to Friday, January 8. Available lots include:

  • East Deck
  • Eisenhower Deck
  • HUB Deck
  • Nittany Deck
  • Red A
  • Brown 11 (White Course Apartments student parking area)
  • Lot 22 (Eastview Terrace student parking area)
  • Lot 42 (Nittany Apartments student parking area)
  • Lot 81 (South/Pollock student parking area)
  • Lot 82 (East Halls student parking area)

Permit holders should scan the barcode on their permit at the entrance and exit machines of the East, HUB, and Nittany decks to gain access. They will not need to take a ticket.

While faculty and staff with a Commuter or Evening/Weekend permit will not be able to access these areas, those who wish to gain access have the ability to purchase an upgraded permit at an additional cost by visiting the Transportation Services Office.

Weekend parking regulations will be in effect on Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27, as well as from Thursday, December 24, through Friday, January 1. Normal parking regulations will be in effect on all other days until the start of the spring semester.

CATA will continue to operate until approximately 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, with no Sunday service for any routes. In addition, CATA’s Reduced Service schedule will only include the Blue Loop and Red Link — White Loop and Green Link services will not be available.

The full CATABUS service calendar can be found on the CATA website. Riders can also review CATA’s plans and passenger protocols in response to the coronavirus pandemic for Fall 2020.
