Myles Dread’s Buzzer-Beater Ranked No. 7 On SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays

Myles Dread’s last-second three-pointer against VCU Wednesday night ranked No. 7 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays.

The buzzer-beater sealed a 72-69 victory over the Rams and pushed Penn State men’s basketball to 2-0 on the season.

The shot was Dread’s only points of the game, after going 0-for-4 in nine minutes of playing time.

Despite a cold game from the junior, it wasn’t the first time Dread hit a game-winning shot from deep. Last season, the Detroit native hit the go-ahead three in a comeback against Yale, and saved Penn State from capitulating against Rutgers late in the season.

Head coach Jim Ferry said the final play of Wednesday’s contest showed “who the Nittany Lions are at a team,” as he named each player who touched the ball in the final 10 seconds. While Seth Lundy and Sam Sessoms starred in the box score, the Nittany Lions proved their “win by committee” approach in the final seconds of the game.

Penn State will put its undefeated start to the test on Sunday when Seton Hall comes to the Bryce Jordan Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
