Penn State #GivingTuesday Event Sets New Record

This year’s Penn State #GivingTuesday event set yet another record for the sixth year in a row.

After receiving support for more than 125 university campaigns, Penn State raised more than $990,00 through approximately 10,400 gifts, which exceed 2019’s record of 7,600 gifts.

Donations that benefited the university’s #GivingTuesday campaigns supported scholarships, athletics, and programs focused on areas of sustainability, healthcare and diversity, equity, and inclusion across Pennsylvania.

Twenty-six student organizations together raised more than $19,000 from 499 gifts. Harmony raised the most gifts with 92, while First Gen Advocates raised the highest cash amount at $3,725.

“This #GivingTuesday, we asked our University community to demonstrate just how much we can accomplish together — and the thousands of participating alumni, friends, students, faculty, staff and fans answered loud and clear,” Penn State’s executive director for annual giving, Jenny Daigle Benoit, said. “Penn Staters are outstanding in their generosity. We truly are one community working together to create a better world.”

Gifts made from #GivingTuesday 2020 will progress “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence,” a campaign that works to increase Penn State’s position as a leading public university.
