NWSL Commissioner To Headline 2021 Penn State Sports Business Conference

Penn State alumna and current National Women’s Soccer League commissioner Lisa Baird will serve as the keynote speaker at this year’s Penn State Sports Business Conference, the organization announced Tuesday.

The event, which will be held virtually this year, will take place between March 1 and 4.

Baird has had an extensive career working in the sports and business industry. She previously served as the chief marketing officer for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee and senior vice president of marking and consumer products for the NFL.

Baird has served as commissioner of the NWSL since February 2020. She’s played a pivotal role so far in getting the league ready to return to play safely during the coronavirus pandemic. Over the summer, the NWSL was the first league to return to live play after originally suspending its season.

The 2020 Sports Business Conference was canceled last year due to the pandemic, but Barstool Sports CEO Erika Nardini and WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert were set to headline the event.

More information about this year’s conference will come as the event approaches. To learn more, head over to its website.
