Penn State Football’s Judge Culpepper Transfers To Toledo

Judge Culpepper is leaving Happy Valley to become a Toledo Rocket.

The former Penn State defensive lineman announced Thursday afternoon that he is transferring to Toledo after spending just two weeks in the NCAA’s transfer portal.

Culpepper came to Penn State in 2018 as a three-star recruit from Tampa, Florida. He redshirted his freshman season before appearing in 22 games over the following two seasons. Culpepper totaled eight tackles and one sack during his Penn State career and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in both 2019 and 2020.

Coming off only his redshirt sophomore season, Culpepper has multiple years of eligibility left and presumably plans to spend them with the Rockets. After serving as a depth piece during his time at Penn State, Culpepper will attempt to carve at a larger role with a Toledo team that is coming off a 4-2 record this past season.

Culpepper particularly stood out with the Nittany Lions thanks to his interesting personal life, which included being raised by a nine-year NFL veteran and growing up with neighbors like Derek Jeter and Tom Brady

Culpepper is the second Nittany Lion to officially transfer so far this week. Fellow defensive lineman Antonio Shelton announced Wednesday he’s headed to Florida to continue his education and football career.
