Former Penn State Goalie Eamon McAdam Signs With AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms
Former Penn State men’s hockey goalie Eamon McAdam signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Monday for the 2020-21 season.
While with Penn State’s program between 2013 and 2016, the Pennsylvania native earned All-Big Ten second-team honors in 2015 and 2016 and was a Mike Richter Award nominee the same season, which honors the nation’s top collegiate goaltender. During his junior season, McAdam went 13-8-1, with a 2.98 goals against average (GAA) and a .913 save percentage.
The goaltender left Happy Valley in 2016 to begin his professional career with the New York Islanders’ AHL team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. McAdam played in the Islanders’ organization, switching between the club’s AHL team and ECHL affiliate, the Worcester Railers.
McAdam then spent the 2018-19 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, playing for their AHL and ECHL affiliates, the Toronto Marlies and the Newfoundland Growlers, respectively. He later had stints in the New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets’ AHL and ECHL organizations.
Starting this season with the Jets’ ECHL club, the Jacksonville Icemen, McAdam has gone 4–2–1 with 2.50 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
Throughout his AHL career with the Toronto Marlies and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, McAdam has gone a combined 29–16–5, with a GAA of 2.98 and a save percentage of .896. In his total 112 ECHL games, McAdam has gone 53–39–14 with a 2.97 GAA and a .906 save percentage.
McAdams graduated from Penn State last spring with a degree in economics.
