Offensive Lineman Eric Wilson Joins Penn State As Graduate Transfer

Phil Trautwein’s offensive line unit is getting a boost via the transfer portal.

Former Harvard offensive lineman Eric Wilson announced Wednesday morning that he’s joining the Nittany Lions program as a graduate transfer.

Wilson, a native of Minnetrista, Minn., spent four seasons with Harvard and started 22 games. Wilson received recognition on the All-Ivy League second team in 2019 and was a semi-finalist for the William V. Campbell Award, given to a player with the best combination of academics, community service, and on-field performance, in 2020.

Wilson did not play in 2020 due to the Ivy League season being canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The guard was a three-star recruit in the 2017 class. He originally committed to transfer to Auburn back in November, but reopened his recruitment following the firing of Gus Malzahn.

Wilson will be in competition to start right away at the guard position for the Nittany Lions thanks to departures from CJ Thorpe and Michal Menet. He is the fifth player to join the Nittany Lions via the transfer portal so far this offseason.
