Altoona’s Keegan Myrick Commits To Penn State Football As Preferred Walk-On

Update, 3 p.m. Saturday: Keegan Myrick is a Nittany Lion after all, folks! He announced Saturday afternoon via his Twitter account that he is 100% committed to Penn State football.

“To start I’d like to thank my parents, family and the grace of God who got me to this point,” Myrick said. “I’d also like to thank every one of my coaches over these past 4 years for pushing me to be my best self on and off the field.”

“I’m 100% committed to James Franklin and the entire Penn State Football staff and look forward to running out to 106k people at Beaver Stadium!!” he continued.

Update, 9 a.m. Saturday: Myrick reportedly hasn’t officially committed to Penn State despite tweeting about it and retweeting congratulations from fans, friends and family, and his high school’s fan page. Instead, he has allegedly received only an offer.

Original Story: Penn State football has added another preferred walk run-on to its 2021 recruiting class.

Running back/cornerback Keegan Myrick announced Friday evening via Twitter that he’s joining James Franklin’s program.

“I’m speechless about this opportunity and living out my dream of running out of Beaver Stadium,” Myrick said.

Myrick hails from Bishop Guilfoyle High School, where he played varsity football all four years. According to his MaxPreps profile, Myrick totaled 3,895 yards on the ground during his high school career, including an impressive 1,777 rushing yards his junior year.

Over the four-year period, he posted 5,296 all-purpose yards. Additionally, he scored 50 total touchdowns (48 rushing, one receiving, and one fumble recovery).

On the defensive side of the ball, Myrick accumulated 167 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 39 pass deflections.

It’s unclear whether Myrick will play running back or corner with the Nittany Lions. However, he showed in high school he’s capable of playing both at a high level.
