Penn State Adds 93 Cases To COVID-19 Dashboard

Penn State reported 93 more coronavirus cases among University Park students and employees this week, according to the university’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

Between Friday, February 19, and Friday, February 26, the university administered 17,278 tests to students and employees. Ninety-three students and employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Penn State’s administered tests ramped up significantly last week as it began its “universal” and mandatory testing of all on-campus students. That process is slated to end Friday night.

Over the past week, Penn State’s total positivity rate for the semester (or since December 19) fell from 4.1% to 2.6%. Just 0.5% of tests administered this week returned positive results.

Twenty-eight students are currently isolating at Penn State’s Eastview Terrace complex, while 31 are quarantined there. The university is using up 15% of its 400-room capacity.

So far, Penn State has reported 458 positives out of 22,101 COVID-19 tests through its mandated pre-arrival testing for the spring semester. These numbers are already reflected and included in Penn State’s reported totals.

Penn State’s COVID-19 Dashboard also incorporates figures from student-athlete testing and any tests taken by those who remained on campus over winter break.

Penn State plans on updating the newly unveiled dashboard three times a week throughout the semester on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The university said testing data is added to the dashboard once results are received.

New features on the dashboard include an “All Campuses” button that shows testing statistics for Penn State’s entire network, calculations for positivity rates, and “enhanced” quarantine and isolation data.
