Vibe Coffee Company To Open On Beaver Ave.

A new coffee shop is set to open in downtown State College in the near future.

Vibe Coffee Company will open at 401 W. Beaver Ave. in the former location of Doan’s Bones Barbecue, which permanently closed in September. The location is in the space on the first floor of the Graduate Apartment Building.

The shop does not have official hours yet, but it plans to be open later than other coffee shops in downtown State College.

While an official opening date is to be determined, the owners would love to give upcoming graduates something to sip on, so they are optimistic that doors will open in May.

Vibe Coffee Co. was started by two high school best friends, Ethan Steiger and Tabeel Noel. Steiger graduated from Penn State in December, and Noel intends to graduate from Temple this spring.

“Tabeel has plenty of professional experience when it comes to managing and operating a business,” Steiger said. “I have always had a dream of starting my own coffee shop one day. But I always thought that would be somewhere down the line, maybe 10 or so years from now. But last summer, Tabeel approached me with one intriguing question, ‘Wanna start a coffee shop?’ Of course, I said yes.

“After a few months of careful consideration, we started taking practical steps in order to make that dream a reality. That gives you a little taste of how things fell into place. But in terms of why we are starting Vibe… Tabeel and I both have a genuine desire to care for other people. And when our doors open, that’s exactly what we are going to do. 2020 was a rough year, and because of that we want to bring some good coffee, good community, and good vibes to State College.”

The menu includes hot and iced coffees, mochas, and lattes. Additionally, the coffee shop will serve dirty chais, espressos, and red eyes. Vibe Coffee also plans to sell brownies, cookies, muffins, and wraps — all for a price cheaper than local competitors.

“State College is an amazing place. We’ve got mountains to hike and bike on, and many relaxing spots to unwind with friends,” Steiger said. “But on top of that, we have a constantly changing environment downtown. And we love that! Whether it be a crazy new bunch of freshmen students, or a massive apartment complex with an infinity pool, you can always expect something new and exciting here.

“We are extremely blessed to have the opportunity to start our first shop here. Yes, State College has a good amount of coffee shops already, but we can assure you that we are bringing something special to the table. From the moment you walk in to Vibe, you can expect to be greeted by friendly faces, dope coffee, and so much more.”

Vibe Coffee Co. will be the latest coffee shop to open in downtown State College since Crust & Crumb Cafe opened its doors in September.

We’ll update this post with more information as it becomes available.
