Penn State Learning announced its spring semester tutoring services and schedules this past week. Students will have access to in-person tutoring for multiple subjects as well as online help for many more.
Let’s take a look at the offerings:
In-Person Tutoring
Appointment-only in-person tutoring is available to students through Penn State Learning’s on-campus labs, which are located in the Boucke Building and Sparks Building. Appointments are booked using Starfish.
Hours for in-person tutoring are as follows:
7 Sparks
- Monday to Thursday — Noon to 10 p.m.
- Friday — Noon to 3 p.m.
- Sunday — 6 to 10 p.m.
220 Boucke Building Hours

Students can access more information about writing appointments here and math appointments here. Links to Starfish are also provided via the writing and math links.
Remote Tutoring
Zoom Sessions
Students can access regular Zoom study sessions for math, writing, and world languages during the spring semester to complement the in-person offerings.
Students must make appointments for sessions with writing or world languages tutors. However, online math help is available only through drop-ins.
Guided Study Groups
In guided study groups, students are led by current undergraduate students who have previously taken and succeeded in a particular course. Classes in economics, math, science, and statistics are all offered in the program, which requires users to register before attending sessions.
For a complete list of the courses that are available to them this spring, students are asked to visit the guided study group page of Penn State Learning’s website.
‘Study Smarter’ Online Workshops
This spring, Penn State Learning is offering an interactive workshop on helping students develop more efficient and effective study habits. Topics discussed in the sessions will include how the brain stores information, six strategies that are most effective to the learning process, and examples of how students can apply these strategies to their current classes.
If you happen to procrastinate and put off your homework until it’s too late, be sure to sign up for one, if not all, of the workshops here.
