‘State Of State’ Spring Conference To Premiere April 6
State of State’s annual spring conference is going virtual for the very first time next month.
The prerecorded event, “State of Unity: Overcoming Distance,” will be released to the public at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6. It will cover topics ranging from the “Predominantly White Institutions Experience” through an “Intersectional Lens to the Students Teaching Students (STS) Program.”
The theme, “State of Unity,” represents the different ways the Penn State community has prevailed the last year and how a stronger community can continue to be built, which sums up what all the speakers talk about.
“State of Unity is proof of the Penn State community’s commitment to continuously challenge ourselves to better represent our commonwealth and serve our world,” Eric Bilbrough, State of State’s executive director, said. “All of us at State of State hope that this conference inspires Penn Staters everywhere to reflect on how they can continue to swell the fame of Penn State as we end this challenging chapter of our lives.”
The speakers for the event will prerecord their talks in the State Theater. The speakers include STS founder Michael Miller, Penn State Latino Caucus President Nicole Jara Andrade, and New Student Orientation Leader Michael Mitole. Additionally, the founder of “Zoe’s Two Dots,” Zoe Cykosky, UPUA Student Life Committee Chair Adeline Mishler, and members of the Penn State Black Caucus will speak.
On Thursday, April 8, there will be a Q&A session where students can submit their questions and talk to speakers live.
Each year, State of State’s spring conference brings together students, faculty, alumni, and community members to speak about important Penn State-related issues. The organization’s goal is to make change in order to make the community stronger and successful.
