3/20 Coalition To Host ‘Justice For Daunte’ Protest April 13

The 3/20 Coalition, a local advocacy group, will host a solidarity protest on Tuesday, April 13, to demand justice for Daunte Wright.

The protest will start at 6 p.m. at the Allen Street Gates. Attendees must wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

The protest comes after 20-year-old Daunte Wright was fatally shot Sunday by a police officer during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. This New York Times webpage breaks down Wright’s death and will be updated with information as it becomes available.

“Police violence is a national crisis. We need to stand in solidarity against the continued blind support of failed policing,” the coalition wrote in a tweet. “Will you join us in our calls for justice?”

The 3/20 Coalition has protested police brutality and racial injustice all year, especially following the police shootings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and more over the summer. The group formed following the March 2019 police killing of Osaze Osagie, a Black borough resident.
