George Lewis Named Movin’ On 2022’s Executive Director

Although this year’s Movin’ On festival is just weeks away, the organization already has its sights set on next year’s event.

To begin gearing up for its next festival, Movin’ On named junior George Lewis its next executive director.

Lewis, a recreation, parks, and tourism management major, is currently Movin’ On’s dierctor of operations. He first got involved with the organization as a freshman in 2018 and previously served on the festival’s promo team before becoming its director of operations for the last two years.

“I’m excited to not only lead an amazing organization, but also learn from everyone else involved along the way,” Lewis said in a press release.

As executive director, Lewis will oversee every aspect of the festival’s operations and serve as the head liaison between the festival and Penn State, advisers, and the executive board.

Lewis specifically cited a desire to bring Movin’ On back to the IM Fields next year. This spring’s festival will be held virtually due to the ongoing pandemic.

“I’m most excited for a safe return to a full festival and giving Penn State students the memorable return they deserve,” Lewis said.

Movin’ On 2021 will kick off on Friday, April 30, to celebrate the semester’s last day of classes. You can catch the to-be-announced acts online through a Zoom link and a WPSU Radio stream.
