Mac O’Keefe’s Record-Breaking Goal Lands At No. 9 On SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays

Penn State men’s lacrosse snuck out a win Friday largely thanks to Mac O’Keefe’s dynamic performance. As a reward, his record-breaking 213th career goal landed at No. 9 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays.

O’Keefe looks to his teammates after becoming the NCAA’s all-time leading goal-scorer.

O’Keefe’s 213th goal broke the NCAA men’s lacrosse record for scores in a career. He finished the day with six goals and two assists. And with one more regular-season game and the Big Ten Tournament still left on the schedule, O’Keefe has many opportunities to set an even higher bar for the sport’s next generation.

The six goals, two assists, and eight points were season-highs for O’Keefe. Even better? His sixth goal won the game in overtime. It also stopped a two-game losing skid for Penn State.

Penn State will travel to Ohio State on April 24 for its regular-season finale. The game will begin at 4 p.m. and air on ESPNU.

Owen Abbey

Owen Abbey was a Secondary Education major before he graduated from the wonderful institution known as Penn State. When he was not writing for the blog, he enjoyed rooting for the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, supporting Penn State basketball and softball, dreaming of all of the ways he would win the TV show "Survivor," and yes mom, actually doing school work. All of this work prepared him to teach his own class of students, which was always his true passion.
