Penn State Men’s Lacrosse’s Mac O’Keefe Named Big Ten Offensive Player Of The Week

Penn State men’s lacrosse attackman Mac O’Keefe earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors after his outstanding game against Michigan last Friday evening.

In that match, O’Keefe broke the NCAA career goals record, topping former Duke attackman Justin Guterding’s previous record of 212 career goals. O’Keefe now has 217 goals under his belt with a few games to spare.

Head coach Jeff Tambroni said it was a “storybook ending” for O’Keefe to break the record on Senior Day at Panzer Stadium. He racked up eight points (six goals, two assists) during the match, including netting the game-winning score with three seconds remaining in overtime.

“It was a big game for our seniors and for all the guys not coming back next year,” O’Keefe said Friday. “I knew this was going to be a special one for us if we came out with a win. I was willing to do everything I could to make that happen.”

The Nittany Lions will face Ohio State in their final regular-season game on Saturday at 4 p.m. The match will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
