Downtown State College ‘Live After 5’ Concert Series To Kick Off July 1

The Downtown State College Improvement District is teaming up with local music promoter The Band Junkies to bring a summer concert series to Happy Valley.

The brand new “Live After 5” event series will run from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday from July 1 to September 9 at Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza on Fraser Street. Each show will be free of charge and open to the public.

“The community is ready to celebrate and welcome summer!” Lee Anne Jeffries, DSCID’s executive director, said in a statement. “We are happy to provide an opportunity for local musicians to share their talent and a place for our residents to enjoy live music, pop in for a bite to eat and support our downtown merchants.”

The series was created to feature what the district is calling the “best local musicians in the area.” Nine acts from the State College area will perform through the series over the course of the summer.

The full lineup is already set:

  • July 1: The Corner Brothers
  • July 8: Anchor & Arrow
  • July 15: Donny Burns Duo
  • July 22: Midstate Select
  • July 29: The Kristi Jean Trio
  • August 5: Caledonia
  • August 12: Canary
  • August 19: Caryn Dixon and Jaoh
  • August 26: Tightrope (featuring Chris Bell)

More information and discussion about the series is available through this Facebook Events page.
