Penn State Adds Vaccination Rates To COVID-19 Dashboard

Thanks to a new addition to Penn State’s COVID-19 Dashboard, you can now check in on the university’s COVID-19 vaccination rates.

The new tool, located toward the bottom of the dashboard, breaks down vaccination rates for each individual campus, including respective rates for students living on and off campus. Each campus’s county-wide vaccination rate is included nearby for comparison.

According to the dashboard, 84.7% of students and 79.7% of employees at University Park are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. On-campus students (88.9%) hold an advantage over off-campus students (83%), while administrators (97.8%) currently pace academic personnel (94.4%), non-union staff (83.3%), and union staff (25.9%).

Both student and employee vaccination rates are significantly higher than Centre County’s 54.4% rate among adults.

University Park’s campus-wide COVID-19 vaccination data as of September 15.

It’s worth noting that the dashboard’s vaccination statistics need to be taken with a grain of salt. Posted data includes only self-submitted proof of vaccination records, and doing so isn’t required at Penn State.

Students can submit their completed vaccine cards through myUHS. Employees, meanwhile, should use Salesforce Health Cloud.

To date, Penn State has shied away from full-on COVID-19 vaccine requirements, opting to only incentivize and encourage them. Full FDA approval of Pfizer’s vaccine won’t change that, according to a university spokesperson.

Those who haven’t submitted proof of vaccination to the university are required to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing this fall. Punishments for noncompliance include conduct referrals, suspensions, and bans from campus events, including football games.

Penn State updates its COVID-19 Dashboard with new testing and vaccination data every Tuesday and Thursday. Feel free to check it out on your own or wait for Onward State’s weekly roundup updates every Friday morning.
