Penn State Wrestling Releases Full 2021-22 Schedule

Penn State wrestling’s upcoming season will officially begin on Saturday, November 13, when the Nittany Lions head to York, Pa., to battle both Oregon State and Sacred Heart, according to the team’s newly released schedule.

Penn State’s home opener will come when the Nittany Lions host Army at Rec Hall on Thursday, November 18. A trip to Penn on December 3 and a home dual with Lehigh on December 5 follow. Penn State will then head to Niceville, Fla., to take part in the 2021 Collegiate Wrestling Duals — a multi-team dual meet tournament — from December 20 to 21.

Big Ten play begins when the Nittany Lions head to Maryland on Friday, January 7. Here’s a full look at Penn State’s conference schedule:

  • Penn State @ Maryland — Friday, January 7
  • Indiana @ Penn State — Sunday, January 9
  • Rutgers @ Penn State — Sunday, January 16
  • Penn State @ Michigan — Friday, January 21
  • Penn State @ Michigan State — Sunday, January 23
  • Penn State @ Iowa — Friday, January 28
  • Ohio State @ Penn State — Friday, February 4
  • Nebraska @ Penn State — February 6 or 11 (TBD)

Penn State’s matchup with Ohio State on February 4 will take over the Bryce Jordan Center and serve as the beginning of a three-dual homestand. One final dual against Rider will wrap up Penn State’s regular-season schedule.

Once Big Ten play wraps up, Penn State will join the rest of the conference in Lincoln, Nebraska, for this season’s Big Ten Wrestling Championships from March 5 to 6. Last season, both Roman Bravo-Young and Aaron Brooks won conference titles, while Nick Lee and Carter Starocci took second place at their respective weight classes.

Once the Big Ten’s tournament wraps up, Penn State will head up to Detroit for the NCAA Championships from March 17 to 19. The Nittany Lions will need to work hard to improve on last year’s showing, which featured four individual champions in Bravo-Young, Lee, Brooks, and Starocci. Despite an amazing effort, Penn State came up just short in the team race and finished 12.5 points behind the Iowa Hawkeyes.
