Penn State Adds 78 Cases To COVID-19 Dashboard

Seventy-eight University Park students and employees tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week, according to Penn State’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

Since Thursday, September 16, the university has administered 8,721 tests to students and employees. Over that span, Penn State added 78 positives to its dashboard total.

Penn State’s total positivity since December 2020 lowered from 2.4% to 2.3% over the past week. Over the last seven days, 0.7% of administered tests returned a positive result.

Twenty-nine students are currently isolating at Penn State’s Eastview Terrace complex, while five are quarantined there. The university is using about 14% of its 235-room capacity.

According to the university, 86.4% of University Park students and 80.4% of University Park employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Both rates easily surpass Centre County’s 54.8% vaccination rate among adults.

Penn State has administered 144,454 COVID-19 tests to University Park students and employees since December 2020, resulting in 3,305 positives.

Penn State plans on updating the dashboard twice a week this fall on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The university’s testing data is added to the dashboard once results are received.

This fall, all unvaccinated students and employees, including those who haven’t shared proof of vaccination with Penn State, must undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.

Walk-up COVID-19 testing is available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday through Friday, at the White Building.

Students experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should avoid walk-up testing and instead schedule an appointment with University Health Services.
