West Deck ‘Bike Den’ Offers On-Campus Support For Bikers

The Bike Den is the newest addition to Penn State’s West Parking Deck. The West Deck opened back in May, while the Bike Den held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in August.

The deck is home to a covered bike parking area on its first level that can hold up to 100 bikes. Students and staff can bring their bikes there if they need repairs, too.

Here, staffers teach you how to fix problems you’re having with your bike so you can learn how to do it on your own in the future. It’s a “Do It Yourself” bike shop where you can come in and use the tools to fix your bike. If you need help, staff and volunteers are available to provide guidance.

Lined with tools galore, the Bike Den has all the tools you could possibly need to fix your bike. It also has a repair station and tire pump.

The Bike Den offers monthly workshops teaching bike skills. September’s workshop focused on changing tires, and October’s workshop will delve into chain maintanence.

The Bike Den is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
