Podward State: Season 5, Episode 5 Ft. Adam Taliaferro

On this week’s episode of Podward State, hosts Samuel Brungo and Grace Cunningham discuss some Penn State and State College headlines from the week with help from associate producer Jordan Mansberger and contributors Shannon Smith, Charlie Pegler, and Hailey Stutzman.

After that, we are joined by former Penn State football defensive back Adam Taliaferro, who was paralyzed while making a tackle in 2000. After undergoing spinal surgery, he received less than a 5% chance of ever walking again. A few months later, he walked out of the hospital and made a legendary appearance at Beaver Stadium.

Taliaferro takes us back to before his injury and dives into his recruiting and his time with Joe Paterno. After that, he talks in-depth about his injury and the long recovery that followed.

Taliaferro also discusses his work as a New Jersey assemblyman and gives advice to anyone who is facing adversity in their lives.

Finally, Brungo is joined by associate producer Will Pegler and contributor Connor Krause, who recap last weekend’s Penn State football game against Villanova and preview the team’s upcoming matchup against Indiana.

Podward State is an Onward State-produced podcast that releases weekly episodes on Spotify and YouTube. Each will feature discussions about all things Penn State, including sports, news, student life, entertainment, and more.
