Three Penn State Men’s Soccer Stars On Senior CLASS Award Shortlist
Penn State men’s soccer stars Danny Bloyou, Pierre Reedy, and Brandon Hackenberg were all included on the shortlist for this season’s Senior CLASS Award. They are three of 30 seniors across the nation now in contention for the award.
The Senior CLASS Award is given to one senior or graduate student that has “notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition” in ten different NCAA sports.
Danny Bloyou is having another impact season in his second year at Penn State. The Old Dominion transfer has cultivated a dynamic partnership with both Liam Butts and Peter Mangione on the front line, and has a goal and three assists so far this campaign.
Pierre Reedy, a captain for the second straight year, has made a career of terrorizing defenders down the right wing, and he is having arguably his best season yet. Reedy has a goal and two assists, but his impact goes well beyond the stat sheet.
Like Reedy, fellow captain Brandon Hackenberg is in his last season as a locked in starting center back. The future Orlando City SC defender has led partnerships with both Femi Awodesu and Adam Laundree, starting in all nine contests this year.
With three nominees, Penn State has the most candidates for the Senior CLASS Award in the nation. Only Oakland, NJIT, and defending national champion Marshall have two players in the running.
Spencer Glass (Indiana) and Joel Harrison (Michigan) complete the five players from the Big Ten.
Bloyou, Reedy, and Hackenberg will lead the Nittany Lions against Michigan State at 7 p.m. Friday in East Lansing with hopes of climbing back into the national rankings.
