Jim Harbaugh Lit His Pants On Fire At Beaver Stadium
Sparks were literally flying as Penn State and Michigan battled it out on the gridiron on Saturday.
Early in the game, Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh seemingly lit his own pants on fire while he stood too close to a space heater on the Beaver Stadium sidelines. Although he didn’t get hurt, the excursion made for a hell of a story.
“Early in the game, Roman Wilson was on the bench, and I was going over to ask him about the previous route that he had run,” Harbaugh told WXYZ Detroit’s Brad Galli. “Then, all of a sudden, Daylen Baldwin says, ‘Coach, your pants are on fire.’ ‘Huh?’ ‘Your pants are on fire.’ I look down and, ‘Oh my gosh, my pants are on fire!’”
Following the incident, Harbaugh joked and said he’ll let his team know to be a little more assertive if they ever see any fiery wardrobe malfunction anytime soon.
Although the disruption was objectively a little frightening, you’ve got to give Harbaugh some credit for sticking with the burned-pants look. It seems he kept them on through at least the first half of the game, as photographed by Patrick Barron, but changed following halftime.
Harbaugh said he plans on keeping those pants (notably not his trademark khakis) as a bit of a keepsake following the No. 6 Wolverines’ 21-17 win over Penn State.
“Yeah, I got them maybe as a memento,” Harbaugh told WXYZ. “Those are pretty expensive pants, those Lululemons. Maybe just make them into shorts, because they burned down on the calf.”
