Lady Lions Game Canceled Amid Towson COVID-19 Positives

Penn State women’s basketball’s upcoming home game against Towson on Wednesday, December 22, has been canceled due to positive COVID-19 tests within Towson’s program, the team announced Friday afternoon.

“The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and the broader community are of the utmost importance,” Penn State Athletics said in a release.

Currently, the program is searching for a non-conference home opponent as a replacement for Wednesday’s game, with details regarding the potential game still unknown. People who bought tickets for the Towson game will notified once the details of the potential new game are revealed.

While it’s the first COVID-19-related cancelation for the Lady Lions this season, it’s not the first of its kind for the other basketball team on campus. Penn State men’s basketball’s two upcoming matchups against VCU and Quinnipiac were canceled amid positive tests within the Nittany Lions’ program.

In the meantime, Penn State women’s basketball is set to play Duquesne at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 18. The Lady Lions enter the matchup with a 6-5 record this season.
