Penn State, CVIM To Host COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic January 9

Update 11 a.m.: Due to icy weather conditions in State College, the Bryce Jordan Center’s COVID-19 vaccine clinic will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 9. It will still end at 6 p.m.

Anyone who’d originally had an appointment scheduled between noon and 1 p.m. can stop by at any point between 1 and 6 p.m., CVIM said in a statement.

Original Story: Penn State will hold a vaccine clinic this weekend to help students get vaccinated before the start of the semester.

In conjunction with Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), the free clinic will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 9. Anyone 12 and older can stop by the Bryce Jordan Center to receive their first, second, or booster dose of the three authorized COVID-19 vaccines.

“We’re delighted to work with Penn State again to bring this vaccination clinic to the Centre Region,” Cheryl White, CVIM’s executive director, said in a statement. “This is an opportune time for such a clinic, with students arriving this weekend and the changing vaccination guidelines for the best protection from the omicron variant. We really hope students and members of the community will come out to get boosted or to get their first or second dose.”

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. Eligible students and community members can schedule an appointment online.

Those who’ve received at least one dose of a vaccine must bring their vaccine cards. Additionally, parents must accompany any child under the age of 18.

According to CVIM, booster eligibility is as follows:

  • Pfizer: fully vaccinated more than five months ago and at least 12 years old
  • Moderna: fully vaccinated more than six months ago and at least 18 years old
  • Johnson & Johnson: fully vaccinated more than two months ago and at least 18 years old

Students who cannot make it to Sunday’s clinic can schedule an appointment through myUHS to receive the Moderna vaccine. First and second doses will be administered on Wednesdays, while booster doses will be administered on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
