More Changes To Transportation, CATA Services Begin For Spring Semester
Due to low employment in the CATA system, its services and other modes of transportation in the State College area will slightly change as the spring 2022 semester gets underway.
If you’re heading out, you’ll want to make note of a few changes to CATA and Penn State’s Transportation Services this spring:
CATABUS Service
- CATA buses will continue to be shut down on Sundays.
- Buses will run from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
- For now, the Green Link will be suspended.
Students who used the Green Link are encouraged to use other routes such as the Red Link, which makes all the original stops from the Green Link except for Rec Hall and the Westgate Building. For those stops, try taking the White Loop.
Penn State’s Campus Shuttles also make stops around the Green Link. The Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue serves the westbound stops on the Green Link, while the Campus Shuttle via College Avenue serves eastbound stops.
Penn State Blue Buses
Penn State will run buses of its own in place of the Blue Loop on Sundays. The university’s iconic Blue Buses will run the same Blue Loop route from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
Spin Bikes
Due to the early closures of the bus routes, Spin Bikes on campus will be free for students for late-night 30-minute rides. The free rides will be unlocked Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. and all day on Sundays.
The free ride service will be suspended from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays to give staff time to redistribute bikes as demand increases.
