Take The Quiz: Which State College Bar Are You?

Picture this: It’s Friday night, and you don’t know what bar to head to with your friends. Perhaps you’re looking for a loud DJ and shots, or maybe you want live music and a pitcher. The possibilities are endless in State College, and there are plenty of bars somewhere in between.

Whether you’re a freshly minted 21-year-old or a parent visiting town for a weekend, take this quiz to find out your ~official~ State College bar preference.

Total Your Results

6-10 Points: The Basement — What’s up, party person! Sitting down and having a drink just isn’t for you. Thursday night rolls around and you just have to get in line for The Basement before its doors open at 9 p.m. All you need is a few syringe shots and maybe some Ciroc to have a good time.

11-15 Points: Stage West — Whether you’re not 21 or just live on the west side of downtown, Stage West is your go-to if you’re in this category. You love the vibe of The Basement, but you yearn for something a bit more casual. Hey, live music is nice once and a while, too!

16-20 Points: Champs Downtown — You own a “State vs. Everybody” t-shirt and you bleed dirty Sprite instead of blood. Sometimes you want to get down and groove to another My Hero Zero set, but you don’t mind playing a round of pool and having some beers either. You also created a Twitter account just to vote Champs as #BarstoolBestBar.

21-26 Points: The Phyrst — Maybe it was love at first blowjob shot on your 21st birthday, or maybe you’re just a fiend for live music. Regardless, The Phyrst is your spot. The constant cover charges don’t really bother you because you know the deal menu inside and out and can make you money back by the time Lowjack’s first song is over.

27-31 Points: Pickle’s — Dancing isn’t really your thing. Well, maybe on Tuesdays it is. You love heading to A’s for happy hour and then skirting over Pickle’s for the main event. But if your friends decide they just want to grab a beer and watch a basketball game, that might be a perfect Friday night anyway.

32-37 Points: The Gaff — You couldn’t name a single cocktail, but your brain is hardwired to say “one Sex at the Gaff, please” whenever you approach a bar. You love a quiet and quaint bar scene, but let’s just say you aren’t afraid to belt out the lyrics to “Love Story” on a Wednesday night.

38-43 Points: Cafe 210 West — You roll your eyes every time someone suggests it’s a Pmans or Champs night. Can’t we just grab a skinny tea pitcher and listen to the Corner Brothers? Your Mondays are always spent at 210 E. College Ave. and you’ve been saving up for 55 Days at Cafe all year long.

44-48 Points: Doggie’s Pub — Can winter just be over with already? You yearn for the days of playing cornhole and eating ‘za in Doggie’s courtyard. But, hey, live music in the old Skeller isn’t half bad. Your favorite beer is a Hazy Little Thing, and you’re slightly annoying about always wanting to go to Doggie’s because it’s “objectively the best bar.”
