Penn State To Host Global Learning & Engagement Week January 24 To 28

Penn State will host its annual Global Learning and Engagement Week from January 24 to 28 to educate students about an array of different opportunities to study abroad.

Events across a handful of campuses will help students learn more about studying abroad as deadlines for summer and fall trips draw near. To check out some of the events that will be happening at University Park over the course of the next week, see our list compiled below.

International Studies Institute Florence (ISI Florence)

Monday, January 243 to 4 p.m.

In 410 Boucke Building, the ISI Florence program will host an information session about its summer and semester-long program. The ISI Florence programs offer students the chance to study abroad in Florence, Italy, through programs rooted in the liberal arts tradition.

Monash University SECIP Program

Monday, January 244 to 5 p.m.

This informational session about the Monash University SECIP Program will teach students about the seven-week program that provides the chance to work alongside and study with students from Monash University, which is located in Melbourne, Australia.

This event will be hosted on Zoom. Registration is required ahead of time.

Education Abroad 101 & Returned Student Panel

Tuesday, January 254 to 5 p.m.

On Tuesday, January 25, Penn State will host a general study abroad info session for those interested in going international during their time at the university. In the info session, education abroad peer advisers will share tips on how to get started, find a program that suits you, and more.

This event will be hosted on Zoom. Registration is required.

Education Abroad Summer Programs Expo

Wednesday, January 26 — 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In the HUB’s Heritage Hall, Penn State Global will host a study abroad expo and info session for summer-specific programs. Students are encouraged to attend if they’re interested in studying abroad next summer or later.

Marketing Your Education Abroad Experience

Wednesday, January 26Noon to 1 p.m.

The College of the Liberal Arts will host an event on Wednesday, January 26, to teach students about the benefits of participating in a global learning opportunity, plus how to use that as an advantage while searching for jobs. The session will take place in 124 Sparks Building or on Zoom.

Gilman Scholarship Information Session

Wednesday, January 26 — 3 to 4 p.m.

The Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring Office will host an information session for the Gilman Scholarship on Wednesday, January 26 from 3 to 4 p.m. on Zoom. The scholarship aims to support students who want to study abroad but might not otherwise be able to due to financial constraints.

Registration is required for this event.

Florence, Italy: The World of Business & Italian Culture Info Session

Wednesday, January 264:30 to 5 p.m.

The Smeal College of Business will host an info session for the Florence, Italy, study abroad program on Wednesday, January 26 in 102 Business Building. Students will be invited to learn about the program where students can spend six weeks studying in Florence during summer 2022.

Go Global With STEM: Studying Abroad Across Colleges

Thursday, January 27Noon to 1:30 p.m.

All STEM colleges at University Park will host this event on Thursday, January 27, which aims to help students learn about how they can study abroad across colleges. It will be hosted in 121 Noontime Lounge in the HUB.
