Green Bay Packers Sign Michal Menet To Reserve/Future Contract

The Green Bay Packers signed former Penn State offensive guard Michal Menet to a reserve/future contract on Tuesday afternoon, according to the organization’s website.

While the move happened shortly after the Packers’ upset playoffs loss against the San Francisco 49ers, reserve/future contracts are granted to players on franchises that are eliminated from postseason contention for roster preparation ahead of next season.

After scoring a spot on the team’s practice squad in December, Menet’s services impressed Matt LaFleur’s staff enough to remain with the team for at least another season.

Despite being only a rookie, Menet is now heading to his second professional destination since entering the league last April. The former Penn State captain heard his name called in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, but he was ultimately released from the practice squad in late September.

Although his stint as a free agent lasted for just a few months, Menet worked out for the New Orleans Saints and the Cincinnati Bengals before settling with Green Bay.

In Happy Valley, Menet was a three-year starter for the Nittany Lions. Throughout his tenure, he served as a two-time captain and wound up as a two-time All-Big Ten honoree.
