ISpy: THON 2022 Edition

Every year, THON rounds up guest performers, theme hours, line dances, and more to keep dancers and spectators busy during the long 46 hours. Although these activities are entertaining, some light-hearted games might help keep things interesting.

See if you can spot these things in the Bryce Jordan Center to help pass the time.

1. A Pink Cowboy Hat

A good number of attendees at THON wear some wacky costumes, hats included. We’ve seen Mickey Mouse ears, bandanas, and even some fuzzy pink hats. Be on the lookout for a pink cowboy hat roaming around to check this first item off your list.

2. Org Letters Spelling Something They’re Not Supposed To Spell

Countless orgs throughout the BJC bring in giant letters to cheer on their dancers. During the 46 hours, these letters are almost certain to find themselves out of order. See if you can spot some purposefully out-of-order letters that spell out something they’re not supposed to say.

3. A Whole Board Game

Dancers on the floor are known to bring in knick-knacks to keep themselves busy as they stand for 46 hours. Plenty of dancers bring in playing cards, but maybe a group of dancers will gather around for a game of Clue or Candy Land.

4. Someone Walking Through The Concourse With A Big Sign

From giant cardboard heads of dancers to Org signs and everything in between, THON does not fall short in the big sign department. Although many of these signs stay within the stands, some may make it out into the concourse. We’ve even heard that there might be a “free hugs” sign floating around.

5. Katie Feeney Filming A TikTok

Katie Feeney is sure to make an appearance at THON. And just like we’ve seen in Beaver Stadium, we’re almost certain she’ll be filming a TikTok or two while she’s at THON 2022. Bonus points if you spot yourself in one of the TikToks.

6. Rock Paper Scisors From Across The BJC

Dancers, committees, and even strangers share countless moments together throughout the weekend. Sometimes, they communicate via flashlights or waves, but a little friendly competition never hurt anyone.

7. Someone Not Wearing A Blue Light-Up Bracelet

The blue light-up bracelet dotting the crowd was beautiful. They all twinkled and looked like blue stars because nearly every person who stepped foot into the BJC received one. Try and find someone without one, and no, a turned-off bracelet doesn’t count.

8. Dr. Neeli Bendapudi

Our guess this THON is that Penn State’s president-elect will make an appearance at THON 2022. Keep your eyes peeled for the newly elected leader as she gets ready to take over for Eric Barron.

9. Sunglasses On…While Inside

To pair with the wacky costumes people wear, you’ll see some fun sunglasses too, even though we’re inside a (sometimes) dark arena. Kudos to the creativity, though.

10. Water Gun Fights

As another fun way to pass the time, some dancers and THON orgs break out the water guns they brought to the BJC in their *clear* bags. See if you can spot a few people engaged in some friendly fire.
