Our Favorite Moves From The THON 2022 Line Dance (With Gifs!)

We’re nearly a full day into THON 2022, and the line dance is still going hard.

After having time to digest the almost five-minute routine, we’ve decided that it’s finally time to put together some of our favorite and most memorable moves. While it was extremely difficult to pick a handful of motions above the rest, here are a select few that stood toward the top of the pack.

Are you running late to class? // Grab a Spin bike, get there fast.

The transition from an extended period of remote learning to a fully in-person class catalog has certainly enhanced the Penn State experience, but it has also limited the ability to jump out of bed right as lectures start.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly felt called out by the way the mob of Dancer Relations captains pointed in unison toward the entire Bryce Jordan Center crowd when talking about class tardiness. Thankfully, Spin bikes have provided an easy, cost-effective way to combat the dreadful morning walk up Shortlidge Road to the heart of campus.

Either way, the combination of the drawn-out finger wag and the bike riding motion made for a smooth line dance sequence that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Coach Rose legend, best alive // BJC the big 25

Once again, the lyrics perfectly mashed with the dance motions in this instance with a solid volleyball dig to commemorate Russ Rose’s illustrious 43-year coaching career with the Penn State women’s volleyball program.

After Rose’s line, the Dancer Relations captains showed off the BJC’s infrastructure in celebration of the arena’s 25th birthday last January with a quality shoulder shimmy.

Rookies, stats are packed // Gates are open, Beaver’s back!

We see you, Micah Parsons and Jayson Oweh!

Although James Franklin wouldn’t condone showboating through a pompous jersey shoulder tug, the rookie seasons posted by both defensive stars undoubtedly deserve rightful recognition in the line dance.

Seeing Nittany Lions ball out in the NFL combined with being back in the thick of raucous Beaver Stadium environments makes us want to bust a move, too.

Light the night! Get loud! // Fireworks within the crowd

Whatever time of day it is now inside the BJC, dancers are still lighting up the venue with prolonged spurts of energy.

The rendition of the “Soulja Boy” motion proved to be a nice touch for this move at the cadence of “Get Loud,” but the rhythm of the arm extensions to mimic fireworks just might have it beat.

Lots of great stuff happening in this stanza, folks.

Former royalty spill the tea // Curry, king of threes

Pinkies up, Dancer Relations captains. The on-stage crew sure looks like they know how to properly sip tee based on their collective form.

Check out the stellar three-pointer celebration, too.

Messi leaves for PSG // What the heck are NFTs?

Despite there not being much physical movement in this particular dance sequence, the visible confusion regarding the premise of NFTs perfectly captures how we all feel about the subject.

If anybody is free to explain the principle of a non-fungible token in detail, please visit the Bryce Jordan Center before 4 p.m. on Sunday. We still don’t get it.

“No Way Home” live-action meme // Lawsuit battle, guess who’s free?

Look! It’s your friendly, neighborhood Dancer Relationships captains!

The squad of captains recreated the famous pointing Spider-Mans (Men?) meme to perfection, which transitioned exquisitely into the “Toxic” dance by Britney Spears.

Just as Spears finally broke free from her conservatorship battle, the dancers were surely breaking deep into their dance-move repertoire across the BJC floor.

Dance Break!

The dance break during this year’s line dance was absolutely electric, and there’s simply no other way to describe it.

During the 57-second transition into the final verse, the music featured hits from Olivia Rodrigo, Migos, and Drake in an absolutely thrilling spectacle throughout the floor and stands alike.
