State College Raising Cane’s Now Expecting June Opening

Penn State students and State College locals will need to wait a little longer to get their hands on some Raising Cane’s chicken tenders.

According to a company spokesperson, State College’s Raising Cane’s franchise is now expected to open in late June. Previously, the restaurant chain said it was anticipating an April opening but noted potential delays could affect the timeline.

The Louisiana-based chicken fingers franchise is currently setting up shop at 228 E. College Ave. in downtown State College. Recently, it installed some signage and started replacing a walkway out front to make it handicap-accessible in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Original plans for State College’s Raising Cane’s included more than $1.6 million in first-floor renovations to the existing space.

Raising Cane’s has amassed more than 500 locations across the country, but State College would be one of the chain’s first restaurants in Pennsylvania. The franchise’s famously limited menu features chicken fingers, signature sauces, Texas toast, fries, and more.
