Onward Chef: More Drinks For Your Blue-White Weekend

Well, we made it. After months without football, we finally get the next best thing: a meaningless spring practice that has become just another reason to tailgate outside Beaver Stadium. And we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Of course, what’s a good tailgate without some refreshments? A bad one! That’s why we here at Onward State put on our mixology hats once again for some easy-to-make, festive drinks to celebrate getting back out in the tailgate lots. So, pull up a barstool, put on your mixology caps, and get liquored up!

The Fullback

This gritty starter is a necessity for those who believe in a power run game and enjoy their drinks a little stiffer. A couple of these before Sean Clifford goes under center for one snap will do the trick. Made of your favorite beer, bitters, blue curacao, a shot of vodka, and a shot of your favorite whiskey, this one is sure to clear the way for good times to follow.

Lavar Arrington Lemonade

Made up of a Smirnoff Ice and lemonade mixed with Pink Whitney, plus an optional extra shot of vodka for those looking to catch up, this easy-to-make concoction is the perfect way to enjoy some perfect weather this weekend!

The Cliff

Careful! Too many of these may have you falling off of a Cliff. This concoction, named after Penn State’s longtime quarterback, is Smirnoff Ice (or really any seltzer or wine cooler you like) mixed with rum, whiskey, and a shot of blue curacao. What better way to toast QB1 than with this mix?

The Silas Redd

Grenadine, tequila, lemon-lime soda, and some bitters if you wanna get fancy with it. That’s all that’s needed for this little number. What better way to celebrate some USC-like weather right here in Happy Valley than with this trip down memory lane?

The Blue & White Ice

This is a simple drink for a fan who doesn’t wanna put too much work into their beverage. Just a Smirnoff Ice, lemon-lime soda, and a shot of blue curacao for color are all you need. This gives you more time to focus on whether or not you think Penn State will win on Saturday. Decisions, decisions!

No matter how you’re celebrating, enjoy your Blue-White Weekend, folks. As always, please drink responsibly!
