Penn State Football Calls For White Out Against Minnesota
Penn State football will host its annual White Out game against Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. on October 22, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.
The game against the Golden Gophers is also Homecoming, so the Nittany Lions will don their “Generations of Greatness” uniforms, too. With the uncertainty surrounding the Ohio State game’s start time, Penn State opted to play it safe with a Minnesota White Out, while the game against the Buckeyes will serve as the annual Stripe Out game.
Last season, Penn State hosted its full-stadium White Out against Auburn and came away with a 28-20 victory over the Tigers. This now marks the second consecutive season that Penn State won’t take on Michigan or Ohio State in the White Out game. Prior to this two-year stretch, the last time the Nittany Lions didn’t play either the Wolverines or Buckeyes in the annual game was 2011 when Alabama beat Penn State 27-11.
Penn State also announced game themes for the rest of its 2022 home slate. It’ll host its “107K Family Reunion” against Ohio at noon on September 10; its annual THON game against Central Michigan on September 24; its “All U-Day” against Northwestern on October 1; its Military Appreciation Day against Maryland on November 12; and Senior Day against Michigan State on November 26.
James Franklin’s squad will begin its season on the road with a prime-time matchup against Purdue at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 1.
