North Atherton Chick-Fil-A To Temporarily Close For Renovations, Drive-Through Expansion

State College’s Chick-fil-A, located at 1938 N. Atherton Street, is set to close for approximately 12 weeks for renovations and a drive-through expansion.

According to a Facebook post, the remodel will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 16.

“We will miss you, but are looking forward to the awesome changes that will help us serve you better,” the franchise wrote on Facebook.

Chick-fil-A’s location experienced longstanding traffic backups and safety concerns due to an overflowing drive-through line.

In March, the Patton Township’s Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a land development plan to add a second drive-through lane, expand kitchen capacity, and redesign the pickup area.

Currently, the drive-through accommodates 15 cars with up to eight overflow spaces. The new dual drive-through lanes will wrap around the building before narrowing to one lane at the exit, which will allow space for 45 cars before overflow.

Additionally, a face-to-face ordering canopy will be added which will allow employees to take orders on iPads when it’s busy.

Chick-fil-A wrote on Facebook that it will post pictures throughout the renovation process.
