Penn State Men’s Hockey Announces 2022-23 Non-Conference Slate

On the same day the women’s team released its full schedule for next season, Penn State men’s hockey has announced its non-conference slate for the 2022-23 season.

The Nittany Lions’ 10-game non-conference slate will begin with a two-game series against Canisius at Pegula Ice Arena beginning on October 7. Penn State boasts a 4-1 all-time record over the Golden Griffins after splitting a series against them last year.

From there, the Nittany Lions will tackle a home-and-home series against Mercyhurst that’ll see them play the Lakers for the first time in over five years. The two teams will battle at Pegula on October 13, and Penn State will travel to Mercyhurst Ice Center the following night for the first time in program history.

Penn State’s non-conference schedule is rounded out with three two-game series’ against the University of St. Thomas, Alaska, and Rochester Institute of Technology. The series against RIT, which is the first in over nine years, will be a home-and-home that sees the two teams face off against each other on consecutive nights beginning December 30.

Since the league was formed nine years ago, Penn State leads all Big Ten teams with a .720 winning percentage against non-conference opponents.

Times and television/streaming information for these games, as well as the team’s full Big Ten schedule, will be released in the coming months, according to the program.
