Report: Penn State Hoops To Face Furman In First Round Of Charleston Classic
Penn State men’s basketball has reportedly added another game to its non-conference schedule. The Nittany Lions will play Furman in the first round of the Charleston Classic, according to a report from Jon Rothstein.
The rest of the field includes Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Davidson, Charleston, Colorado State, and South Carolina. Should Penn State win its matchup against Furman, they would play the winner of the Virginia Tech/Old Dominion game, possibly setting up a rematch against the Hokies after the Nittany Lions blew them out in 2020.
Only a handful of non-conference games have been officially confirmed for Penn State so far. Those games include the Gavitt Games matchup against Butler and the ACC/Big Ten matchup against Clemson. More games should be released as the summer continues.
Head coach Micah Shrewsberry enters his second year at the helm of the Nittany Lions. Eight new players join Seth Lundy, Jalen Pickett, and the rest of the returning squad, creating an interesting roster for the 2022-23 season.
