Jaquan Brisker Signs Rookie Contract With Chicago Bears
As players across the NFL report for training camp, Jaquan Brisker officially inked his first contract with the Chicago Bears.
The team announced Tuesday afternoon that the former Penn State safety has signed a four-year deal to start his NFL career. While the official terms haven’t been released, OverTheCap expects it to be worth $7,971,982 over the four years ($1,992,996 AAV)
The Bears selected Brisker in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft with the No. 48 overall pick. He became the first Penn State safety drafted since Nick Scott was picked by the Los Angeles Rams in 2019.
After Brisker wore No. 7 and No. 1 during his Penn State career, the Bears announced shortly after the draft that he’d make the switch to No. 9 to begin his pro career.
Brisker played two seasons at Lackawanna College before transferring to Penn State in 2018. With the Nittany Lions, Brisker totaled 151 tackles, 14 passes defended, and five interceptions over a three-year stretch.
The safety earned a plethora of recognition during his time in the blue and white, which includes first-team All-Big Ten, as well as All-American honors. Brisker served as a team captain in 2021, too, while serving as arguably Penn State’s most important defensive player.
Brisker could make his Bears debut in the coming weeks when Chicago opens its preseason schedule against the Kansas City Chiefs at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 13.
