Penn State Football’s Ken Talley Enters Transfer Portal
Update, August 16: Penn State defensive lineman Ken Talley released a statement to his Twitter page Tuesday morning, further confirming his entrance into the transfer portal.
“First off I want to say thank you to Coach Franklin and the whole Penn State staff for giving me the opportunity to be a Nittany Lion,” Talley wrote. “I loved every second of it especially the love of the fans.”
“With that being said I am now in the Transfer Portal,” Talley continued.
Original Story: Class of 2022 four-star recruit Ken Talley has entered the NCAA transfer portal, as first reported by portal analyst Mike Farrell. Talley confirmed the news himself by retweeting Farrell’s report.
The defensive end’s decision to enter the portal comes before ever appearing in a game for the Nittany Lions.
Talley committed to Penn State just over 11 months ago as the ninth-best player in his home state of Pennsylvania, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He was part of a highly touted class that earned national top-10 rankings and included several headliners, such as quarterback Drew Allar and running back Nicholas Singleton.
His decision to enter the portal comes as a surprise to many, as Talley has been as vocal as anyone with his strong commitment to James Franklin’s program. However, he becomes the second player over the last three days that the Nittany Lions have potentially lost.
On Saturday, a Penn State Athletics spokesperson confirmed that running back Caziah Holmes is no longer with the program after spending two seasons with the team.
