Report: Carl Nassib Signs One-Year Deal With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It appears former Penn State football star Carl Nassib is heading back to Tampa Bay.

The defensive end reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Buccaneers, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This will be Nassib’s second NFL stint with the ‘Bucs, as he played in Tampa Bay during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He logged a career-high 6.5 sacks there in 2018 and a career-high 34 tackles the following season.

This will end a two-year stop in Las Vegas for Nassib, who totaled 49 tackles with the Raiders. He also played for the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him 65th overall, in 2016 and 2017.

After walking on to Penn State in 2011, Nassib became a unanimous All-American before his time in Happy Valley was over. He was named the Big Ten’s Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, a year in which he also set the Nittany Lions’ single-season sack record and won the prestigious Hendricks and Lombardi Awards.
