Penn State Baseball Adds Three Transfers To 2022 Roster

Penn State baseball has gained three transfers for the upcoming season, the team announced on Tuesday. The transfers, including two infielders and one pitcher, will participate in the Nittany Lions’ fall practice ahead of their 2023 season.

Thomas Brambley, Bobby Marsh, and Daniel Ouderkirk are set to join Penn State’s roster along with eight other newcomers this season.

Brambley, formerly at Mount St. Mary’s, spent time at catcher and third base and made 112 starts in 124 games. The fifth-year senior maintained a .285 batting average with 109 hits, including 20 home runs in his career with the Mountaineers. In Brambley’s final year at Mount St. Mary’s, he tallied a .307 batting average with 38 RBI.

The Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, native ranked No. 5 in the Northeast Conference with 41 walks, and he recorded 41 runs and four steals in 2022.

Marsh, a freshman from Bellefonte, originally committed to Florida Atlantic and spent the fall 2021 season with the Owls before flipping to Penn State. The first baseman and outfielder was ranked as the No. 14 first baseman nationally and the No. 12 recruiting prospect in Pennsylvania.

Marsh finished his high school senior year with a .333 batting average, including 18 hits, six doubles, one triple, and three home runs.

Ouderkirk, formerly a West Virginia pitcher, joins the Nittany Lions as a graduate transfer. Ouderkirk redshirted his freshman year in Morgantown and over his last two seasons, pitched in 23 games and tallied 38 strikeouts.

The pitcher helped lead West Virginia to a 33-22 overall record in 2022 and didn’t allow an earned run in six of nine appearances that season.

Brambley, Marsh, and Ouderkirk will help the Nittany Lions kick off their 2022 fall training in preparation for the spring season. The transfers, along with a new class of recruits, will try to help Penn State improve upon its 26-29 record last season.
