Author Of Green New Deal To Host Lecture At Penn State September 8

Rhiana Gunn-Wright, one of the authors of the Green New Deal, is slated to host a lecture at Penn State at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, in Thomas 100. The lecture is co-sponsored by the McCourtney Institute for Democracy and the Sustainability Institute.

Gunn-Wright has dedicated her career to creating inclusive and equitable climate policy, and she has focused on bringing all generations, but particularly Gen Z, into the climate change discussion.

Some of her other work experiences include working as a White House policy intern for former First Lady Michelle Obama and working with U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and U.S. Sen. Edward Markey in creating the Green New Deal.

The lecture is free and open to the public. The Penn State chapter of the League of Women Voters will conduct voter registration outside of Thomas 100 before and after Gunn-Wright’s lecture. To learn more about the lecture, visit the McCourtney Institute for Democracy’s website.

Owen Abbey

Owen Abbey was a Secondary Education major before he graduated from the wonderful institution known as Penn State. When he was not writing for the blog, he enjoyed rooting for the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, supporting Penn State basketball and softball, dreaming of all of the ways he would win the TV show "Survivor," and yes mom, actually doing school work. All of this work prepared him to teach his own class of students, which was always his true passion.
