FanDuel Gives Drew Allar Better Heisman Odds Than Sean Clifford

Yes, you read that correctly.

Penn State’s true freshman phenom, Drew Allar, already finds himself in the thick of things when it comes to betting odds for the 2022 Heisman Trophy, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Allar, who’s the Nittany Lions’ backup quarterback, has 100/1 odds while starting quarterback Sean Clifford has 250/1 odds to win the trophy.

On the surface, it makes little sense, as Clifford has a firm grasp on the starting gig with two fairly smooth games to start the season. The sixth-year quarterback has totaled seven touchdowns (five passing, two rushing) and 495 passing yards through the first two games of the season.

After getting a taste of college football during week one when Clifford exited the game due to cramping, Allar played extensively in Penn State’s 46-10 blowout win over Ohio. Allar tossed two touchdowns and sent Beaver Stadium into a frenzy while doing it, folks.

Not only does Allar have better Heisman odds than his Nittany Lion counterpart, but he has the same 100/1 odds as former Penn State quarterback Will Levis. Levis, who many are projecting as a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has led Kentucky to a 2-0 start to the season.

While there’s currently little doubt that Allar is the future, we have to wonder what the folks over at FanDuel are thinking. Allar has thrown 12 collegiate passes. However, maybe they know something we don’t know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
