‘Oeuf Boeuf Et Bacon’ French Diner Now Open In Former Baby’s Location

It appears that “Oeuf Boeuf et Bacon,” a new French diner, is now open for business in downtown State College.

The diner is located at 131 S. Garner St. in the former location of Baby’s Burgers & Shakes, which closed in 2020.

Oeuf Boeuf et Bacon — which is French for “egg, beef, and bacon” — is the brainchild of nationally acclaimed chef Gillian Clark and partner Robin Smith.

Clark has appeared on — and won — Food Network’s “Throwdown with Bobby Flay,” and her restaurant, The General Store, was featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diner’s, Drive-ins, and Dives.” Additionally, she is the author of the empowering memoir, “Out of the Frying Pan.”

Its hours of operations are as follows:

  • Sunday — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Monday — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday — Closed
  • Thursday — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to American classics, breakfast items include bourgeons scramble, shrimp and grits, crullers, corbeille a pain, frites disco, crepes, and chicken fried steak. Non-breakfast items include beef bourguignon, fish and frites, croque, chili, and, of course, French onion soup.

Diner staples, like root beer floats, milkshakes, and burgers are on the menu, too.

A classic burger is just $9, and several breakfast items are under $10, too. Elevated options are closer to $20.
