Penn State Men’s Hockey’s Liam Souliere Named Big Ten Second Star Of The Week

Penn State men’s hockey is rolling, folks.

Goaltender Liam Souliere has been named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week. Souliere held Wisconsin to one goal and made 63 saves over the course of Penn State’s series sweep of the Badgers last weekend.

Souliere’s 32 saves in Penn State’s 4-0 win in game two were his second-most this season, and it was also his first shutout of the year. Meanwhile, his 31 saves in a 2-1 Penn State win in game one were his third-most the season.

The Canadian has played well for Penn State this season. Souliere’s .929 save percentage leads the Big Ten, while his 1.50 goals-against average is also good for first in the conference.

Souliere is joined by Michigan defenseman Luke Hughes, who is the Big Ten’s first star of the week, and Notre Dame goaltender, Ryan Bischel is the third star of the week.

Souliere and Penn State’s next series is against Hughes and No. 1 Michigan, with games scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Pegula Ice Arena, respectively.
