[Photo Story] Penn Staters Celebrate 100 Days ‘Til THON

The HUB was rockin’ all day long Wednesday as students kicked off 100 Days ‘Til THON.

The event celebrated THON’s fourth annual Dream Forward Campaign, which is a two-and-a-half-week fundraiser. This year’s record-breaking total of $1,266,034.16 wildly surpassed the goal of $700,000.

Between a silent disco, singing performances, hair donations, and a human photo on the HUB Lawn, the celebration was a hoot.

Dancers were groovin’ in the HUB’s Alumni Hall. Troupes including Island Fever, Whiplash, and Urban Dance Troupe turned the vibes up yesterday morning.

Nittany Dance Project won “Penn State’s Best Dance Crew” and will perform during THON Weekend.

Penn State’s show choir, The Singing Lions, put on a lovely performance, too.

Folks had the chance to tap into their inner child with a number of arts and crafts.

How did the pirate get his flag so cheap? It was on sail.

It wouldn’t be 100 Days without carnival activities including corn hole, Twister, caricatures, and tic-tac-toe.

PNC Bank set up a number of whiteboards for people to write down what they THON for. Responses included “a cure,” “the kids and their bright futures,” and “more smiles.”

Naturally, there was a 100 Days photo op with props, boa scarves, and balloons.

Hundreds of students added their fingerprints to a large “100” number display, signifying the collective effort of THON.

Hair donation time was incredibly pure. Dozens of students chopped off their luscious locks, all For The Kids.

Folks were smiling ear to ear with their new hairdos.

The area near the High School Musical stairs started to fill up prior to the fundraising total reveal. The energy in the HUB was immaculate as THON volunteers danced to get the crowd pumped.

There was lots of cheering as THON revealed its record-breaking Dream Forward Campaign fundraising total of $1,266,034.16. 100 Days ‘Til THON and the campaign were quite a success.
