No. 14 Penn State Opens As Three-Score Favorite Against Rutgers

After a rainy shutout win over Maryland, Penn State football has opened as a 19.5-point favorite against Rutgers, according to OddsShark. The over/under for the game is set at 45 points.

A 30-point win over the Terps brought Penn State to 7-3 against the spread (ATS) this season. However, the weather made scoring difficult, and the matchup failed to hit the over by almost 30 points, moving the Nittany Lions to 7-3 over/under this year.

After a close game against Michigan State, the Scarlet Knights are now 5-4-1 ATS this season, hitting the over five times in those 10 games. Rutgers, getting a win ATS in its last matchup, has covered the spread three times in its last five games.

In the last eight matchups, Penn State is a perfect 8-0 against Rutgers, a record which splits to 4-4 ATS. Moreover, in those games, Penn State has held Rutgers to 4.88 points per game, resulting in the under hitting all eight times.

This year’s contest will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, in SHI Stadium.
