Penn State Football’s Olu Fashanu To Return For 2023 Season

Penn State football is getting its left tackle back for one more season.

Offensive lineman Olu Fashanu will return to Penn State for the 2023 season, as first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Fashanu confirmed his decision with a post to his Twitter account.

“For the last three years, I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to be around a group of extremely hardworking individuals, Fashanu wrote. “Everyone in this program has pushed me to become a better football player, and more importantly, a better man.”

“Although playing in the NFL is a goal of mine, there is still more that I want to achieve personally and collectively as a program,” he continued. “After several conversations with my parents and coaches, I will be returning to Penn State for the 2023 season.”

The move comes as a surprise, as Fashanu has been projected as a potential top-10 pick in 2023 NFL mock drafts. Fashanu took over as the Nittany Lions’ full-time left tackle this season after nabbing the start in last year’s Outback Bowl.

The 6’6″, 308-pound sophomore has started eight games for Penn State this year but has recently missed some time due to an apparent injury. While on the field, Fashanu anchors the Nittany Lions’ much-improved offensive line.

Fashanu will continue to anchor the offensive line in 2023 for an offense that is expected to be led by Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, and Kaytron Allen.
