10 Penn State Football Offensive Players Earn 2022 All-Big Ten Honors

Ten Penn State football offensive players have earned 2022 All-Big Ten honors, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Offensive lineman Olu Fashanu led the way with second-team All-Big Ten recognition from the coaches and third-team honors from the media. Nick Singleton, fresh after being named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, earned third-team honors from both the media and coaches.

The only other Nittany Lions to make an All-Big Ten team were center Juice Scruggs and tight end Brenton Strange, who were both named to the third team by the coaches. Both players were tabbed an honorable mention by the media.

A handful of other Penn State football players earned honorable mention nods from the coaches or media — Sean Clifford, Parker Washington, Hunter Nourzad, Sal Wormley, Bryce Effner, and Kaytron Allen.

Evidently, the Nittany Lions were shut out on the first team, with many arguing that Fashanu deserved the honor. Fashanu, who has started eight games for Penn State this season, has anchored an offensive line that is much improved from last year. Earlier this week, the 6’6″, 308-pound sophomore announced that he’d return to Penn State in 2023, sending shockwaves across the NFL Draft community.

Elsewhere, Singleton has produced a record-breaking true freshman season for the Nittany Lions. The Pennsylvania native has carried the ball 149 times for 941 yards (6.3 yards per attempt) and 10 touchdowns so far this season, adding a receiving touchdown and kickoff return score, too.

Strange has had his best season to date, totaling career-highs across the board with 32 receptions for 362 yards and five touchdowns. Additionally, he’s proved to be valuable as a blocker, which has contributed to the explosive Penn State run game this season.

Also contributing to the Nittany Lions’ improved blocking is center Juice Scruggs. Scruggs, who was an honorable mention from the coaches and media last year, has served as a constant for Penn State all season long.

On Tuesday, 13 Penn State football defenders and specialists earned 2022 All-Big Ten postseason honors, with Joey Porter Jr. leading the way with unanimous first-team recognition.
